Welcome to the Training Academy Website.

The Academy was established with the main scope to provide induction training and in-service training to court staff employees in order to increase their skills and make them more sensitive and responsible.

Sedqa S.A.F.E. Programme - 08 July 2009

As a follow up to the well received sessions facilitated by Sedqa. The Training Academy shall during the month of October 2009 be running another series of three one hour sessions on Stress Management, Approaching the Problem Empolyee and Bullying at the Workplace. Sessions may subject to application be attended by all categories of staff at the Courts of Justice. 


Informative Presentations on Waste Matter - 08 July 2009

The Training Academy shall in collaboration with WasteServ Ltd. be running three one and a half hour sessions on Waste Matter. These are informative sessions and the topics addressed during the presentations shall include: recycling of waste, importance of waste seperation, the bring in and civic anemity sites, types of waste and home composting. The venue dates are the following 23rd, 30th and 31st July 2009. 


School Visits by Maltese and Gozitan Form IV students - 08 July 2009

The Courts of Justice Division shall in collaboration with the Curriculum Management and e-Learning and the Office of the Chief Justice during the forthcoming scholastic year [2009-2010] facilited a series of school visits for Form IV students from the various secondory schools in Malta and Gozo. The scope of the visits is to enhance the knowledge of the students on the role and functioning of the Courts and to foster an understanding of the Judicial System. 


Training sessions for Directors within the Public Service - 08 July 2009

The Training Academy shall during the month of September 2009 be providing Training Room Facilities to S.D.O. for the running of training sessions to Directors on The Freedom of Information Act as well as on the Drafting of New Legislation.  


Training Courses organised in conjunction with the Centre for Policy Research and Training. - 23 February 2009
The Training Academy shall in 2009 in conjunction with the recently set up Centre for Policy Research and Training (CPRT) be running a series of training sessions through innovative methods such as workshops, e-Learning, mentoring/coaching and blended learning on a variety of issues. The issues to be addressed include the following: Governance and Ethics, Better Regulation, Strategy and Policy Development, Leadership and Strategic Thinking, Information Management, Analysis and Use of Evidence, Human Resources and General Management and Continuous Personal Development. 

      
Mission Statement

The Mission Statement of the Training Academy is:

  • to train staff performing duties at the Courts of Justice Division to fulfil their duties with ability, knowledge and expertise, integrity and impartiality, effectively and efficiently;
  • to instil and strengthen professionalism in the performance of duties by court staff and in core operational functions, and to train court staff in modern managerial skills;
  • to accostom court staff in the laws of criminal and civil procedure and in other legislation relevant to the proper carrying out of their functions;
  • to co-operate with other training institutions in the training of court staff;
  • to provide training to other categories of staff as the Minister responsible for justice may direct and
  • to carry out such other duties as the Minister responsible for Justice may from time to time direct.
